Lyrics
To: Letter To Elvis
I
wrote a letter to Elvis in nineteen seventy two...
I
received it back today and I don't know what to do...
It
has been many years since I mailed that letter...
I
always thought the postal service could do better.
It
was stamped "Return To Sender" in nineteen ninety five...
I
felt Elvis might have died when my letter arrived...
The
scribbling I could hardly read from the wear over the years...
When
I saw the "Teddy Bear", It was hard to hold back the tears.
The
scribbling read "Can't Help Falling In Love", "Don't Be
Cruel To My Hound Dog" underneath "Return To Sender"...
It
appeared to have been walked on by those "Blue Suede Shoes", I could
hardly read "Love Me Tender"...
There
on the stamp I saw a courthouse stamped "Jailhouse Rock"...
For
all those years my letter was gone I only moved around the block.
I'll
cherish that old letter that was stamped,"Return To Sender"...
For
all those years I have been singing "Love Me Tender".
